Enterprise marketing executives to learn from IU AI experts and researchers, tour new IU supercomputer to foster education, collaboration and innovation.

INDIANAPOLIS (Jan. 23, 2020) – Indianapolis-based Pattern89 announces a partnership with venture studio High Alpha and Indiana University to host an artificial intelligence (AI) summit on Jan. 23 for a group of senior enterprise marketers to foster education, collaboration and innovation. The afternoon will feature business leaders in AI, IU AI experts, researchers and graduate students, as well as IU’s world-leading AI and supercomputing infrastructure.

Indiana University received a $60 million gift in the fall of 2019 to establish a multidisciplinary initiative in AI based in the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering. As part of this initiative, IU is connecting with some of the nation’s top brands to share knowledge and discuss real-time business needs and AI applications to inform current practice, teaching and research.

The event on Jan. 23 will convene marketing executives from nationally recognizable Indiana-based retail, manufacturing and healthcare brands to learn more about AI and its applications for business, and to tour the country’s fastest AI-oriented university-owned supercomputer facility, Big Red 200 launched earlier this week. The leadership and data science teams from Pattern89 and High Alpha will also be in attendance to share their insights.

“All aspects of business today, certainly including marketing, are increasingly being shaped by AI,” said Fred H. Cate, IU Vice President for Research and C. Ben Dutton Professor of Law. “We are grateful for this incredible opportunity to partner with Pattern89 and High Alpha to engage with Indiana businesses to better understand how IU’s truly extraordinary AI and supercomputing capacity can serve the needs of Indiana companies; and to ensure IU’s AI teaching and research meets and informs evolving business practices now and in the future.”

A world-renowned expert in cybersecurity and AI, Cate will emcee the Executive AI Summit and present on AI and ethics followed by presentations on AI by one of IU’s leading AI researchers and professors, David Crandall, and on IU’s supercomputing capabilities, and a tour of Big Red 200, by VP for IT, Brad Wheeler. Following the tour will be a panel discussion and Q&A on AI applications with Marketing AI Institute Founder and CEO, Paul Roetzer; Interpublic Group SVP, Global Chief Information Policy Officer Sheila Colclasure; Pattern89 CEO and Founder R. J. Talyor; and Wheeler, as moderator.

“Indianapolis is a thriving tech hub, and Bloomington’s proximity to the city means we not only have a great pipeline of talent to hire, but also world-class researchers who can help evolve how we build our own tech products,” said Talyor. “Marketers will continue to push the boundaries of AI, and university researchers will help redefine those boundaries so we can keep pushing them. The opportunities are endless.”

A cocktail hour and dinner with Indiana University Masters of Science & Ph.D. students will follow the panel discussion. For more information on the Executive AI Summit, visit pattern89.com/ai-summit.
